Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum

• Peace Memorial Museum, which was harrowing but an important and worthwhile visit.

• For the Hiroshima day itself, go into the Peace Memorial Museum first thing while it is quiet and save the park and the dome for after; that order reads better and beats the tour groups.
• One small note: leave the Peace Museum itself a slow chunk of time, it is the emotional core of the visit and rewards not rushing.

Cons

• The Nagasaki and the Hiroshima atom bomb museums are ok, depending on what you want to see.
• I found the museum was so busy when we went it was shoulder to shoulder and you had to fight to see the exhibits, it was very slow moving all in one direction and I wish they had timed entry’s to make it less crowded. The peace park and...
• Also these days the museum gets really busy. The last time I went to the park and museum I spent around 4 hours there and I was kind of rushing it.
• For the museum, since you're going at the afternoon, expect crowds and generally a pretty poor experience until the latter half because it's just choke full of people.
• Be prepared for the Peace Memorial Museum. It is very very heavy. Was just there and it was over crowded at the time, hard to move through, on top of the heavy exhibits. Not for the faint of the heart.
