Helsinki
Reddit take
AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote
Helsinki is generally characterized by travelers as a calm and peaceful city with an excellent public transportation system and a quality food scene. While it is frequently recommended as a 1-3 day stop or a convenient regional travel hub, it is also a common candidate for removal from tight itineraries, with some visitors finding it less exciting than neighboring Nordic or Baltic capitals.
Pros
- Calm and peaceful atmosphere
- Excellent public transportation that reaches both the city and surrounding landscapes
- Great food scene
- Convenient hub for arrivals or regional travel to Tallinn and Riga
Cons
- Can be perceived as boring compared to other major Nordic cities
- Often considered skippable if a travel itinerary is rushed
- Landscape may not offer enough variety for those already visiting Norway
Caveats
- A car is unnecessary for navigating the city
- Most travelers suggest 1 to 3 days is sufficient to see the main sights
Best for
- Travelers seeking a relaxed city break
- Regional tours involving Tallinn, Riga, or Stockholm
- Visitors who prefer using public transit over driving
Avoid if
- You have a very limited timeframe for a multi-city tour
- You are looking for high-energy excitement or unique dramatic landscapes

Helsinki
Me and my friend drove from The Netherlands->Copenhagen->Gothenburg->Oslo->Bergen->Trondheim->Tornio->Oulu->Turku->Helsinki->Tallinn->Riga->Kaunas->Warsaw->The Netherlands in 13 days.
You don’t need a car in Helsinki.
Helsinki and Tallinn are pretty calm, in my limited experience.
I would recommend staying 2 days in Helsinki, but two days is good for Stockholm and three days is good for Copenhagen, so one day in Helsinki it is.
2-3 days is fine for Helsinki. I wouldn't take days away from other locations. All in all a solid plan, I haven't visited Jurmala though.
But your plans feel kinda rushed so I would leave Helsinki for another time
Born cities have excellent public transport which is also more than good enough to take you outside of them into the stunning landscapes around.
I’d recommend to at least visit Helsinki, it actually may be the best hub for your arrival or possibly go to Riga as well.
I would skip Helsinki.
