Helldivers 2
Reddit take
AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote
Helldivers 2 is widely celebrated as a breakout co-op success, noted for its satisfying gameplay loop involving "stratagems" and high-intensity combat. While it has maintained strong player engagement and received praise for its post-launch support, the experience is frequently marred by technical instability on PC, including performance drops, freezes, and hardware-specific crashes.
Pros
- Highly satisfying and chaotic co-op gameplay mechanics
- Excellent post-launch support and consistent content updates
- Significant optimization of file size (reduced from ~154GB to ~23GB)
- Strong community engagement and high player population
- Rewarding progression and "warbond" systems
Cons
- Frequent technical issues on PC, including random shutdowns and freezes
- Performance inconsistency, with some users reporting low FPS even on capable hardware
- History of regional availability issues due to account requirements
- Potential for high hardware temperatures and stuttering during intense scenes
Caveats
- The game features a steep learning curve where players should expect to die frequently
- While the install size was reduced, initial downloads or older versions were noted for being very large
- Online play is the primary focus; solo players may find the difficulty overwhelming
Best for
- Fans of tactical yet chaotic co-op shooters
- Players looking for a long-term live-service game with active developer support
- Groups of friends who enjoy high-stakes, objective-based missions
Avoid if
- You have a PC build prone to overheating or stability issues
- You prefer a purely offline or solo gaming experience
- You are sensitive to performance fluctuations during high-action sequences

Astro Bot winning half of them is incredible, but let's also acknowledge Helldivers 2 for winning another four. Crazy how that game came out of nowhere and killed the first half of 2024.
That's why Helldivers 2 was like 150GB for example.
I get bad performance out of it, for example Helldivers 2 runs at 40-50 fps, and seeing online my build is capable of doing 75-80 at high settings 1440p
for example in Helldivers 2 on Ultra without DLSS I have drops to 90-100 sometimes when there is hundreds of npc, but I still see no tearing.
Last night I was spreading democracy after downloading Helldivers 2 and my game froze, so I had to force quit through task manager. But after trying to relaunch the game my Steam went into a boot loop and wonldn't open, actually nothing on my Games drive would open.
gpu wise every game with path tracing, cpu wise Helldivers 2 on D10 is insane
I have been unable to really play Helldivers 2 since last year in June; I experiencing random shut downs in the middle of play.
I'm seeing it across multiple games: * Helldivers 2
in the case of Helldivers sometimes it'll freeze but if I wait about 5 minutes it'll unfreeze, however when this happens I can't find anything in event viewer that would've specified what happened.
I tried running game Helldivers 2 (GPU is 5070ti) and temp reached 96C and game was stuttering after turning it off even after 40 minutes of idling and fans on 100% the temp reached 76C
