Hampstead is a beautiful part of London. If you feel like strolling through some twisty streets with pristine gardens then you will not be disappointed. Burgh House gallery and cafe is very nice for a break. The high street has plenty of cafes too. And you can wander through the Heath too, which is huge, peaceful woodland.

Spending a day walking around Hampstead by yourself would be nice too. A bit further out but was my favorite day when I went to London last year with my girls.

If you're after an older artsy area where you can see a lot of literary/art/cultural icons have lived and been inspired by - Hampstead is nice.
