Halo: Combat Evolved

Pros
- If I'm not mistaken, it's also one of my most replayed ones from childhood, second only to Halo Combat Evolved.
- Halo CE is without a doubt one of the greatest single player games ever made One of my personal lifetime favorites
- Where Halo: CE really shines to me is in the outdoors sections, wide open spaces that allow you to fully engage with the "combat sandbox" that is so frequently talked about.
Cons
- In Halo 1's case, some of those levels were already getting pretty boring the *first* time you played them. Playing them again gets pretty rough. It's copy and paste, they don't really do any meaningful changes. Same shit, different day.

- I had played through Combat Evolved around 2/3 years ago and thought that it was good... but a little boring and annoying with the flood parts and a little overrated.

It's unavoidable for a game this old, and this influential, to not show its age, but there are moments, ironically enough when it steps away from traditional FPS to do new things, where the game really shines.
The next level is the infamous Library, and it feels like the game goes out of its way to undo all of the goodwill of the previous. "Oh, you thought the Flood was cool and scary? Welcome to Flood Horde Mode". The level's poor reputation is well earned, and I can't imagine how much more tedious it is at higher difficulties.
All of my previous attempts to play through the game have ended at the same point - the third level, "The Truth and Reconciliation". It starts off well enough, giving you a sniper rifle and trusting you to clear a path for your squad, but once you board the ship, my biggest issue with the game manifests - waves of identical alien fodder against the backdrop of identical hallways that are incredibly easy to get lost in.
