Pros

  • 3. Halo 4 - 9/10 yeah, flame me. man this was such a good game wtf. insane visuals, gorgeous vistas, thank god for sprint and the fast paced gameplay. ALL the missions except the gondola were pristine.
  • If that weren't much of a factor I would say Halo 4. Comfortable, very weatherproof.
  • But the controls are buttery sweet. Only Bungie does controller shooters better.
  • I think there is enough Narrative payoff in Chief and Cortana's story to make a single playthrough worth it at least to me

Cons

  • Im about to start Halo 4 to mix things up a bit too.
  • I hated everything about 4, including the writing for chief and Cortanas dialogue. I thought it was a jarring change from the previous games and was more like fanfic than a continuation.

  • Halo 4 destroyed the esteem in which I held the franchise, and then Halo 5 and Infinite destroyed my love of the franchise.

What redditors said (10 of 14)

Halo 4 in third place is genuinely mind boggling to me, the pretty graphics do little to distract from the absolutely tragic game design in every other aspect: 1. The Prometheans are atrocious, complicated over-designs that have zero colour co-ordination, identifiable silhouettes or engaging gameplay. 2. The combat is horrendously annoying, with enemies that zoom about, hide endlessly and - worst of all - teleport instantaneously upon losing shield. The sound design of the weapons also sucks. 3. The narrative is boring. They tried to introduce a new threat with the Didact, but he fell flat. They also tried to introduce an interesting angle with Cortana's rampancy, but that also didn't hit the right notes. 4. Worse than the narrative being boring, it actively sabotage the lore of the series.

With Halo 4, the mobility of the Prometheans just throws that out the window. Instead of encouraging smart play, the Crawlers and Watchers just bum rush you, and they're super tanky. It removes the smart use of terrain or interaction with the weapons sandbox and forces you to use headshot weapons to deal with them, almost like a lame shooting gallery.

Easily my least favorite Halo game. The first level feels like a, “button pushing,” simulator. Combat is the weakest in the series because the loop with the Prometheans is awful.
