Pros

  • Halo 2 is such a great. I’ve had so many nights playing to sunrise when it came out.
  • Halo 1 was pretty straight forward with a nice twist of the flood. 2 just ups the lore, presentation and grandeur by a tremendous amount.
  • I still can't get over how advanced the AI was for the Elites, on Legendary, in Halo 2 (at launch, whatever year that was?), that AI is **STILL** better than most AI you encounter in games.
  • Then when 2 released...the magic returned. Dual wielding. Next chapter in the story.
  • Anyway, I just wanted to point out that Halo CE is by far the worst part. Halo 2 is better and more enjoyable (at least on easy difficulty; after playing Halo CE on "normal" I just wasn't ready to play all the other party on normal and s...

Playing MCC campaigns with a friend, we're on Halo 2 and it's honestly my least favorite campaign in the collection, not without it's highlights (Anniversary cutscenes are gorgeous) and I'm aware of the the dev hell/crunch the team was on, but still, aside from the narrative getting fleshed out *actually playing the missions* isn't as captivating to me as CE was.

Might be a molten hot take, but Halo 2 never did it for me. Felt like it was chasing trends more than anything at the time. ... 2 just felt like it didn't get fully baked somehow. And Legendary on it was an incredible slog. ... It was a regular occurrence in 2. And it would have felt that way even without the stupid coop death skull that is forced on for Legendary, which made it even more annoying.

Anyway, I just wanted to point out that Halo CE is by far the worst part. Halo 2 is better and more enjoyable (at least on easy difficulty; after playing Halo CE on "normal" I just wasn't ready to play all the other party on normal and stay sane)

From the little I know about Halo 2, that game does far more to realize the potential shown in CE, which makes me tempted to continue this journey into the series and watch the evolution over years.

Halo 2 feels like an improvement on everything, ESPECIALLY the soundtrack.
