• As a regular for decades in GG, I would disagree on your perception of gg, tourists just congregate in bands and roam through the alleys without daring to enter, and when they do they visit only very specific bars... The "ecosystem" of g...
• Golden Gai offers that same historic, post-war alleyway vibe but focuses on drinks and conversation rather than smoke and meat.
• Golden Gai is fantastic
• If you’re still around after dark, Omoide Yokocho and Golden Gai have a fantastic atmosphere and are well worth exploring.
• Golden gai has way better night life vibes.

Cons

• Golden Gai is just a dump.
• Golden Gai and Omoide Yokocho are overpriced and rammed full of tourists despite there being many other places to go
• That being said, many bars are more and more inclined to be not that welcoming to tourists given the ruckus they tend to cause and how disrupting they are to the local drinkers when they -do- enter.
• Golden-gai is now just dumb tourists looking for selfies and really small bars that don't want you there unless you are a local.
• Specially knowing that golden gai is not that cool, that leaves me a lot of space for things that we will actually enjoy.
