Pros
- It's a very good game, imo.
- Loved the sequel on my Mac and eager to replay on my PS5.
Cons
- It sure is a good case study for "what not to do for a sequel" but I wouldn't call the game bad by any stretch. It's a massive departure from the first game for sure but it's good for what it is but feels more like a spin-off than a prop...
- I didn't play frostpunk 2 for 2 hours. I can't say why exactly I don't like the game, but I just don't.
- Frostpunk 1 was a visceral experience, while Frostpunk 2 seemed... rather distant with the macro management take they took. Was quite disappointed with what they did
- They went with a bigger scale so the game didn't feel as personal. So it made it feel like the choices were just random and didn't matter compared to the first one. ... I didn't feel like I was making important decisions. I barely stayed...
- The game was fun but after you beat the campaign there's no reason to come back to it.

I didn't feel like I was making important decisions. I barely stayed engaged long enough to do one playthrough and haven't felt like playing it again.

Parent context: Not the only one.... Had high hopes but nothing clicked in the second game for me. Reply: Well they had a cool concept in FP1 with building the city yourself and totally botched that in the second game with their district building.
45% off Frostpunk 2, believe that is all time low, game isn’t even 3 months old.
For me, both games are an 8.5/10 but they are different genres. FP1 was a city builder, FP2 is a 4X. Different scale, different themes, different experiences so don't go into it expecting FP1.5 or you will be sorely disappointed. Also the complaints were mainly from some FPS stuttering and it being easier than the first one but both have been addressed pretty well imo.
