it is not for everyone, and definitely nowhere as accessible as Forza Horizon, AC or EA WRC for the average user.
I started on a logitech G29 clamped to my shitty IKEA desk, and still had an absolute blast in AC1 and simcade/arcade games like Wreckfest, Project Cars and Forza Horizon.
For recommendations I would try forza horizon if he likes racing
