Reddit take

Not enough linked mention summaries yet; the source excerpts below are the evidence.

Pros

  • The "no games narrative" is moot anyways, when you realize the vast majority of gamers play Madden, Fifa, Minecraft, CoD, Fortnight, etc. For them, the PS5, Xbox Series, and Switch have *plenty* of games.
  • But to me a quick 10-minute FIFA game and a glass of wine after the kid goes to bed make all the difference between becoming desperate and being able to cope

Cons

  • Basically any AAA sports title. Madden, NBA 2k, fifa, etc. They Basically are $70 mobile games with their microtransaction implementations and barely add any features with their yearly editions
  • Or fucking FIFA being nominated for Game of the Year award
  • Those yearly releases are horrible cashgrabs but I have my fair share of poor spending habits so who am i to judge
  • The big moneymakers are either live service games or things like CoD and FIFA
  • Same reason no one here talks about Fifa or Fortnite.

Plenty of people buy a PS only to play CoD and Fifa.

I remember seeing a statistic that the initial purchase is only around 25% of the revenue they make off FIFA - the remaining 75% is "micro"transactions.
