Pros

  • We did the Ferber method at 6 months. The plan was if he never fell asleep we’d stop. Or if after 4 days we saw no change we’d stop. ... by one week he was sleeping through the night and has since!
  • My situation was very similar and we wound up doing Ferber at 5.5 months. I thought it would never work, but it did.
  • We did Ferber (though we did pick him up at the check ins) and within 3 nights, he was settling himself to sleep with no tears. It beat the 90 minutes of trying to rock him to sleep while he fussed and cried and clawed at our faces, and...
  • We’re almost done with week 2 of sleep training doing a modified Ferber method. I have no regrets. The first couple days were tough. Listening to your baby cry and scream and having to wait to go in is so hard but I genuinely believe we...
  • Ours started right at the 4 month mark and only ended when we started the Ferber method around the 5 month mark. It took about 3 days of “training” to work, then he slept through the night every night for about 2 weeks.

Cons

  • Never did CIO or Ferber because our son was a pretty decent sleeper
  • We tried CIO first, and then the Ferber method for about 2 months to no avail, and now trying the huckleberry app.
  • There’s also Ferber, pick up put down, and many others to consider if you decide you want to.
  • My sister has a 14-week-old baby and has said she started ST last night with Ferber. I've tried telling her that is still very young for a baby to be ST, and I'd probably wait. ... I've never seen it recommended to ST before 4 months as...
  • At 11 months we tried sleep training. Did Ferber/check-ins and gave up after an hour. Night 2 husband tried chair method which seemed worse, also lasted an hour.

We’re almost done with week 2 of sleep training doing a modified Ferber method. I have no regrets. The first couple days were tough. Listening to your baby cry and scream and having to wait to go in is so hard but I genuinely believe we gave her the gift of sleep.

I did a “gentle” variation of Ferber. Basically I created a really consistent bedtime routine (bath, nurse, lay in crib, read story, lights out). It only took her those few nights to adjust
