Pros
- Its insane how well its aged. 22 years and its stilll very very good and arguably the best piece of Fate media.
- F/SN is one of the all-time greats!
- Overall, Fate/stay night deserves its status as a classic. The plots twist and turn, the characters are all a delight and all get their time in the sun, there's plenty of rule-of-cool, and all of the endings brought me to tears. ... It's...
Cons
- I enjoyed it but didn't get the hype for Saber. I liked Rin more and ended up dislking Saber and everything in her route after finishing the whole game. It was the weakest out of all 3 routes
- I always feel crazy hearing how much praise this game gets, since I actually *really* like Tsukihime but found Fate/SN to just be a huge slog.
- The romance between Saber and Shirou is so hard for me to swallow. Like, the idea of the Holy Grail War is neat, but the idea that any of these Servants would fall in love with their Masters is just . . . a very rough sell to me.
- Parent context: I actually *really* like Tsukihime but found Fate/SN to just be a huge slog. Reply: It is quite slow at times. I read it over a span of almost two months and interspersed some other games in there.
- The emotional payoff of the Fate route (one-third of the game!!) is stunted because the writers, who are otherwise obviously being careful and explicit about what thematic throughlines they're putting in their game, seem to have a gargan...

The emotional payoff of the Fate route (one-third of the game!!) is stunted because the writers, who are otherwise obviously being careful and explicit about what thematic throughlines they're putting in their game, seem to have a gargantuan blindspot about what they're doing with gender.
The pacing isn't particularly brisk, especially in the early days of the Fate route, but that time is spent fleshing out and characterizing the cast, so time isn't being wasted in meaningless durdling.
Overall, Fate/stay night deserves its status as a classic. The plots twist and turn, the characters are all a delight and all get their time in the sun, there's plenty of rule-of-cool, and all of the endings brought me to tears. ... It's absolutely worth picking up. 9/10
