Pros

  • I quite enjoy Expeditions... The base rules are pretty simple, but the interactions between the large number of cards can get complex, especially since actions can trigger other actions. Chasing the perfect chain of actions is a dopamine...
  • It's mechanically pretty cool and is a fun efficiency puzzle. But there's like no interaction lol. Sometimes it feels like you're just trying to see who can do a math problem in the fewest steps.
  • Expeditions is flashy and has great artwork. I haven't played it enough to make a final decision on it. You are moving a mech around to gather resources and build a hand of cards that you play out to try to get some combos.
  • I rather like it. Much like Scythe it’s kinda odd to have such a peaceful game populated with awesome mecha war machines, but I enjoy how chill it is for a large game. It’s exploration and action puzzlely and I quite like it.
  • Yea, I love Expeditions.

Cons

  • However it might not be the best 4 player game (BGG only recommends 1-3 and I can totally see why). Also the expansion is kinda necessary if you want to have the best experience with this game.
  • I played it a few times, the novelty was interesting, but I don't see myself playing it a lot. The most you can do is just hog a spot an extra turn or two to stop someone from doing what they want, otherwise it's just you trying to be mo...

  • Parent context: It’s a good game. Doesn’t hit the same notes as Scythe for me, but that’s great, because if I want to play Scythe, I’ll play Scythe. That said, I find this much easier to get to the table. Reply: I feel ya. I want to ad...

I enjoy it myself. Such a smooth tableau engine building game with great artwork. The automa is smooth as well for playing solo.

I like expeditions as it gives a similar feeling as scythe, at least for me. But you need to play more to enjoy it. Card combos and the optimal play are not easy to see in the first few games.

My husband and I like it. Tends to get to the table more often than Scythe, I think because it's less intimidating in scope (for our friends).
