Pros

  • try an Exped Ultra 6.5R sleeping mat, one third the weight of the Neoloft and just as comfy
  • I finally settled on the Exped Ultra 6.5r in the medium wide rectangular. I find the combination of their verticals baffles and slightly stretchy material to be the softest out there at around the 1lb mark while still being supportive.
  • If I would be picking out of those three without knowing more details o would pick Exped Ultra 6.5R as it's the lightest one.
  • I have the Exped Ultra 6.5R (rectangular) and my husband the Nemo Eclipse. I have only tried the Eclips for one night. As a side sleeper I find them both very comfortable. I prefer vertical baffles... The Exped is lighter.
  • I use that exact exped pad in the regular length, wide configuration. It’s the best pad I’ve ever owned (backpacking 25+ yrs). The taper isn’t noticeable for me at all.

Cons

  • Well for -20°C, I would definitely stick with proven high end products and skip the Exped Ultra 6.5R as you would be pushing it bellow it's limits.
  • I've been pretty excited about the Ultra 6.5R for a while, since at 12oz (340g) for a 6.5R sleeping pad is an excellent warmth to weight ratio. ... Unfortunately, I found it sleeps a bit cold BUT I still like this pad ... this thing is c...

we're sharing a 2P pad (Exped Ultra 6.5R) and I don't think attaching it to a 2P pad works.

This pad is still a solid contender in its weight bracket and it's nice that they dropped 3-4oz and some volume off the old 5R.

I've been pretty excited about the Ultra 6.5R for a while, since at 12oz (340g) for a 6.5R sleeping pad is an excellent warmth to weight ratio. ... Unfortunately, I found it sleeps a bit cold BUT I still like this pad ... this thing is comfy. I love the vertical baffles, I love how compact it gets, I love how quiet it is, the valves are good, it's super nice overall ... just not quite as warm as I hoped.
