Reddit take

AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote

Eurostar is widely regarded as a superior alternative to flying for travel between major European hubs like London, Paris, and Brussels. Users highlight its speed, ease of use, and the convenience of being dropped directly in city centers rather than at remote airports. While the experience is generally positive, tall travelers have noted specific seating preferences to ensure comfort.

Pros

  • Fast transit times, such as approximately 2.5 hours between London and Paris.
  • Arrives directly in city centers, saving time on airport transfers.
  • Generally considered more comfortable and less stressful than flying.
  • Convenient access to local transit and attractions from arrival stations.

Cons

  • Table seating can have restrictive legroom that is uncomfortable for tall passengers.
  • Requires arriving approximately one hour before departure for check-in and security.

Caveats

  • Tall travelers should paradoxically choose seats without tables to avoid hitting their knees on the table structure.
  • Early booking is recommended to secure the most affordable fares.

Best for

  • Travelers moving between London, Paris, and Brussels.
  • Those who prefer city-center arrivals over airport commutes.
  • Tall passengers who can secure non-table seating.

Avoid if

  • You are very tall and can only book a seat with a fixed table.

I never understood why people keep using the stupid large suitcases. I've travel around the globe with just a backpack that fits in many places. Carrying a lot of stuff makes travel just inconvenient. Now you are worrying and stressing instead of enjoying the travel.

Eurostar then takes 2.5 hours to get to Paris, plus arrival around an hour before to check in. The station is nice for a bit of a stretch though, and Eurostar is great.

If you're a beer geek, Brussels is a wonderland. The Eurostar uses the MIDI station and one of the best sour beer breweries in the world is easy walking distance from there.

London to Paris only takes a couple of hours if you get the Eurostar and drops you right in the centre of the city.

If you mean the Eurostar, the normal seats are OK except for the legroom to the tables. The table structure is ideally positioned to crack your knees on if you're tall. So choose a seat without a table for more legroom, paradoxically.
