AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote

The Eureka Mighty Mite is a long-standing budget favorite in the vacuum community, praised for offering high suction power at a very low price point. While it excels on hard floors and is appreciated for its simple bagged design, it is frequently criticized for its loud operation and poor performance on carpets due to the lack of a motorized brushroll.

Pros

  • High suction power that often outperforms more expensive bagless models
  • Very affordable, typically priced between $70 and $80
  • Lightweight and compact canister design is easy to store
  • Compatible with HEPA bags for improved filtration
  • Includes a functional blower port

Cons

  • Extremely loud, described by some users as 'ear-piercing'
  • Poor carpet cleaning performance due to the lack of a spinning brushroll
  • Cheap build quality, specifically regarding the plastic wands and wheels
  • Short power cord and hose length
  • Not a sealed system, which may limit its effectiveness for severe allergy sufferers

Caveats

  • Many users recommend immediately upgrading the stock plastic wands and floor tools to metal or name-brand versions (e.g., Wessel-Werk)
  • While turbo heads can be added for rugs, they are prone to stalling on anything thicker than low-pile commercial carpet

Best for

  • Hardwood, tile, and laminate floors
  • Small apartments or single-room cleaning
  • Budget-conscious buyers looking for a corded, bagged vacuum
  • Picking up large amounts of pet hair on hard surfaces

Avoid if

  • You have medium-to-high pile carpeting
  • You are sensitive to high-pitched motor noise
  • You require a vacuum with a long reach for large open spaces

This summary uses balanced time weighting with about a 6-month half-life. The evidence is older, with a median source age of approximately 406 days; however, the product is a stable hardware staple with consistent feedback over time.

Upgraded from the Eureka Mighty Mite (with substantial upgrades— telescoping metal wand and wessel werk attachments) to the Sebo E3 and the premium parquet attachment.

The cheaper ones like a Mighty Mite have good suction but poor tools so upgrades are likely necessary (+50).

It's a fun little vacuum. Substantially similar model has been around for over 40 years which is a testament to how good it is. And the price has barely changed at all.

But, in a pinch, a Mighty Mite would be a pretty good choice. ... Always corded and bagged for best suction, performance and longevity.

If not then a $79 mighty mite will blow (suck?) it away.

Not sure why nobody ever considers the Eureka Mighty Mite. For hard floors and basically everything except carpet its the best. I have a Miele C3... It doesn't follow you as easily as the Mighty Mite. And the price difference is Huge.

I'd rock any of those and have the prior version of the Zing. Both the mm and zing could benefit from better tools which are important to get the best cleaning. They work, but are basic.

The Eureka Mighty Mite is very affordable and very capable. ... So even without the hepa exhaust filter the Mighty Mite is still worth it. But there are a lot of shortcomings to the Mighty Mite such as the plastic extension wands, cheap tools, and short cord.

I mean mighty mite came in 1 2 3 4 hp versions in the 80s. Any straight suction canister from the era was pretty good.

These are great vacs, especially with a HEPA bag. My first Eureka MM was while living in an apartment, because of the compact size. Now, my main VAC is a Riccar. But I really wanted something light that I can grab for in-between clean up. ... I use it more frequently than the big vac.
