Escape from Tarkov
Reddit take
AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote
Escape from Tarkov is a highly polarizing extraction shooter that offers a deep, realistic progression system but is currently weighed down by technical debt and community frustration. While the core gameplay loop is described as fascinating and tense, players frequently cite rampant cheating, poor optimization, and controversial developer stances as major deterrents.
Pros
- Stellar, tense, and realistic FPS mechanics
- One of the best progression treadmills in the genre
- Fascinating, complex systems that reward mastery and patience
- Significant performance gains when paired with X3D/3D cache CPUs
Cons
- Persistent and widespread cheating issues in PvP modes
- Poor optimization leading to lag spikes and extreme hardware demands
- Excessive time spent in menus and inventory management puzzles
- Long matching and loading times that do not respect player time
- Pay-to-win options that some feel undermine the game's difficulty
Caveats
- Extreme RAM requirements, with some users suggesting up to 64GB for stability
- Developer controversies regarding political stances and community relations
- Frequent progress wipes require re-grinding quests every 6-7 months
Best for
- Hardcore gamers seeking an unapologetic challenge
- Players who enjoy complex equipment management and realistic systems
- Owners of high-end PC builds with 3D cache processors
Avoid if
- You have a low tolerance for cheaters in competitive environments
- You prefer fast-paced action over 'walking simulator' elements
- You are bothered by developers' public political alignments

Escape from Tarkov runs perfectly, it is finally good to play.
The main game I am trying to beef up my system for is Escape From Tarkov, which is known to be unoptimized to put it politely, and my 10th gen CPU usually gets bottlenecked in one or two cores, which is really not good for a game like Tarkov.
Right, I am thinking about updating my processor because processor/ram is more important for escape from tarkov.
Certain games benefit more from the extra cache. Escape from Tarkov being one of them.
Guys I found the issue lmao. Tarkov is notorious for being an absolute ram black hole, hell the steam page recommends 64gb of ram ffs.
Also a total walking simulator too. Plus the PvP in the game is so anti fun that the main player base basically shifted to the PvE mode only leaving super sweats and cheater in the PvP mode.
For example, in Escape from Tarkov I often see CPU + RAM sitting at ~100% and get noticeable lag spikes.
Another example is with Escape from Tarkov, it's a CPU intensive game and similar case happens to me and people keep recommending me X3D CPUs for that game.
Escape from Tarkov is the biggest example of performance gains from the 3D cache in my opinion. It’s actually insane how much of a performance difference it makes
Escape From Tarkov is the extraction shooter that started it all, and many of its dense, mercurial systems are fascinating to learn and master at your own pace as it viciously refuses to hold your hand. I genuinely love that unapologetic challenge, but an equal number of things about it are obnoxious, janky, or just plain scuffed to an unacceptable degree – that includes its subpar performance and bugginess, its absolutely atrocious UI, and its unmitigated plague of cheaters.
