Reddit take

AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote

eDreams is overwhelmingly criticized by the Reddit community, with users frequently labeling the service as deceptive or a scam. The primary grievance centers on the 'Prime' subscription service, which many travelers claim they were enrolled in without clear consent during a flight booking. Once enrolled, users report significant hurdles in canceling the service, including hidden interface elements and unhelpful customer support.

Cons

  • Automatic or deceptive enrollment in 'Prime' yearly subscriptions during checkout.
  • Extremely difficult cancellation process involving hidden buttons or mandatory phone calls.
  • Reports of unauthorized, backdated, or hidden charges even after cancellation attempts.
  • Poor customer service that is described as unhelpful or difficult to reach.
  • Issues with receiving correct booking references (PNRs) to manage flights directly with airlines.

Caveats

  • Some users suggest that the 'cancel subscription' option is hidden within the mobile app behind multiple confirmation screens, which may be more effective than calling.
  • eDreams may charge service fees that the airlines themselves do not require.

Best for

  • No positive use cases were identified in the provided Reddit discussions.

Avoid if

  • You want to avoid recurring subscription fees.
  • You prefer transparent pricing without hidden upsells.
  • You want the security of booking directly with an airline.
  • You require accessible and reliable customer support.

Im so annoyed rn. While booking for my flight to new york, I didnt realise EDreams enrolled me in a yearly subscription with monthly installments. So, naturally, I called them to cancel it. But they said yearly subscription can be cancelled but I would still need to pay the full amount.

This is a known behaviour for eDreams. Plenty of shady behaviour of them subscribing you to a subscription service without clearly indicating it.

Bottom line - there’s a reason folks post over and over not to book with eDreams. It’s your money to lose. They’ve been running their scam for years they know the “tricks”

They're just another shitty 3rd Party Vendor that I can't imagine how they stay in business.

eDreams is one of several 3rd Party Vendors that is notorious for this. You need to contact eDreams and ask them for the real PNR so you can log into your booking on Hainan's website.
