I love Steinbeck, I don’t like EoE. Just seems like a combination of all his best already used ideas.
East of Eden is gold for this kind of material. It has some lovely passages that stick with you, plenty of philosophy to chew on. And it sticks with you for life.

I recently had to read East of Eden by Steinbeck for a book club, it was something I would of have never chosen for myself but I am loving it, I’m almost reading it slowly because I don’t want it to end.
"East of Eden" by Steinbeck is incredible and there's a really good audiobook version. A really thought provoking book at times and when you're in-between cities and in the wild parts of our country it always seems to link up with whatever is on the highway.
