I like to vacuum my place every day and it's such a lightweight and easy to use cordless vacuum cleaner for an everyday use, yet it takes everything off the floor lol.
I have a Dyson V12 Detect Slim, which I purchased new for about $400. It works fine for picking up human hair on my medium-pile wall-to-wall carpet using the Motorbar head (hair doesn't get tangled up very much), so I bet it that it would work fine on runners and area rugs. The soft brush head works great on hard floors. It has a HEPA filter and is well sealed. Works great for the car when not using the wand -- I use the crevice tool, the combination tool and the hair screw tool in the car.
