Pros
- Combat... It’s fantastic. The first game had a weird sense of weightlessness that I didn’t like, but they completely fixed that for this game.
- The sense of adventure. This game understands what makes a journey memorable. I love that fast travel is limited. I love that items and equipment have serious weight - it forces you to plan carefully about what to bring on your journey a...
- I just rolled credits on Dragon’s Dogma 2 after 31 hours. It is now one of my favourite games of all time.
- I managed to pick up a cheap copy of Dragon’s Dogma 2 at Book Off
Cons
- The Beastren. They just feel weirdly out of place. Like the devs decided at the last minute that a culture would actually be cat-people instead. They don’t seem to add much either
- Performance on PS5. It’s not good. It *can* hit 60fps, but it mostly hovers around 50 and frequently dips to 40, if not lower.
- My issue is that I wish there were more modifiers. Most armours and weapons are a simple stat increase from the previous one. There are a very small amount that offer some unique ability - I wish there were more of these.
- I just wish it wasn't just Dragons Dogma but somehow worse in a lot of aspects, better in only a few, and the same in many of the ways it shouldn't have been. It was such a wasted opportunity and DD is one of my favorite games of all tim...
- This is not really that great, a bit clunky at times and with a very generic story, but I got past the initial hump of gameplay. And is fun to crawl around on big monsters and stab them a bunch.

I just wish it wasn't just Dragons Dogma but somehow worse in a lot of aspects, better in only a few, and the same in many of the ways it shouldn't have been. It was such a wasted opportunity and DD is one of my favorite games of all time, and DD 2 was a giant disappointment to me that I'm still sad about.

I tried DD2 a few weeks back and it frustrated me beyond belief because the bones of a great game are there but the jank/bugs and the ‘fight goblins and the same 3 enemy types every fifteen feet’ just got way too tedious. It’s a shame because I loved it to start with!
I really loved it in the beginning, it had that same magical quality as I felt playing Skyrim the first time. ... but by the time I got to the desert area I was starting to lose interest. I just felt the enemies weren’t varied enough. It seemed like I was fighting those lizards and harpies forever and none of the styles of fighting really clicked with me. Also what story there was fell off a cliff
