Pros

  • I adore large tiles, either as the core mechanic in tile-placement or variable set-up. The tactile feel of placing a tile and fitting it against others is lovely. ... * Dorfromantika
  • Dorfromantik is a really fun and lovely puzzle, where you also play kind of a campaign
  • Dorfromantik
  • Dorfromantik, a very chill cooperative game about building a nice little village.
  • Favourites are: Quest for El Dorado, Quacks of Quedlinburg, Dorfromantik

Cons

  • The only downside to Dorfromantik is - once you're finished, there is no reason to continue playing it.
  • It's a beautiful game, I've played it a handful of times electronically. That was enough for me to know it wasn't enough of a win condition for my taste, but I can see why others like it.
  • On a personal note, I think the unlocks happen a bit too frequently but besides that, we're fond of this mechanic and the fact that you can unlock achievements.
  • The game throws a lot of new scoring mechanics at you that it is honestly hard to track.

You may want to try Dorfromantik. Fits your cooperative + cozy request, but not the nature or animal theme. It’s about building a little village.

Oh, yes, forgot about Dorfromantik. That’s a great recommendation for something similar but still different from Cascadia.

Other games that we enjoy as calm choices: DorfRomantik, Forest Shuffle & Creature Caravan.

Nevertheless, the game is a lot of fun! The experience itself is great just to lay tiles, the campaign is a bonus to that.

The end goal of Dorfromantik, as I’ve experienced it, is to have a very accessible game that my wife actually asks to play, to spend time with my wife working on a fun puzzly game that doesn’t punish sub-optimal play
