Destiny 2
Reddit take
AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote
Destiny 2 is currently viewed with significant hostility by the Reddit community, primarily due to 'content vaulting'—the practice of removing paid expansions and seasonal story content from the game. While the core gunplay, art, and music are still praised as being of high quality, the game is frequently described as being in a 'fall from grace' state. Long-term players report feeling punished for taking breaks, and the experience is considered nearly impossible for new players to navigate due to a fragmented narrative and missing story arcs.
Pros
- Excellent core gameplay loop and gunplay feel
- High-quality art direction, music, and professional asset design
- Strong historical raid experiences and social atmosphere
Cons
- Content vaulting: Removal of previously paid expansions and story missions
- Extremely high barrier to entry for new and returning players
- Fragmented or impossible-to-follow lore due to deleted narrative content
- Heavy reliance on FOMO (fear of missing out) and aggressive monetization
- Perceived 'minimum viable product' approach in recent expansions
Caveats
- Purchased content is not guaranteed to remain in the game permanently
- Technical issues like enemy damage scaling with frame rates have been reported
- The game requires a significant time and financial commitment to stay current
Best for
- Players who prioritize high-quality FPS mechanics over narrative consistency
- Existing fans who are already deeply invested in the current ecosystem
Avoid if
- You are a new player looking for a coherent, start-to-finish story
- You object to the removal of digital content you have purchased
- You are sensitive to FOMO-driven gameplay loops and repetitive grinding

Content vaulting is the most absurd thing I’ve ever heard of, and I legitimately cannot imagine being a Destiny 2 player who deals with it. The game is simply not good enough to put up with that kind of shit.
That same thing happened but against you in Destiny 2 at high fps on PC. Some enemy beam attacks would melt you in sight depending on frame rate.
I made a game gun replica (from Destiny 2) for a friend
Destiny 2 was an amazing game for the first few expansions, loved every second of it. But as soon as they started vaulting content I immediately uninstalled because I knew I wouldn't be getting more out of the game.
They fucked up AGAIN and people have had enough now, time to move on. ... This game has to be one of the worst fall from grace games in the history. They have done this game so wrong...
I just cannot trust bungie with how they ran Destiny 2 into the ground with their greed. Some of the content in the expansions were insanely cool but the rampant minimum viable product and monetisation was crippling.
I used to sit in destiny lobbies after raids listening to the music and just thinking "man what an incredible experience this game is" .
Dude Destiny 2 is awful for Destiny 2 players who took 6 months off. I can’t even imagine what it’s like for new players.
I’ve never felt so little towards a game that used to mean so much to me, genuinely impressive how well they’ve done at fucking it all up.
Even as a player it was obvious this game needed immediate attention. So many players (my group included) had the intention of just seeing out the Final Shape then leaving. It was such an obvious problem that was ignored by higher ups since “players always return”. The state of the game has only gotten worse and it’s not inviting anyone back in
