Death Stranding 2
Reddit take
AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote
Death Stranding 2 is widely regarded as a significant technical and mechanical improvement over its predecessor, frequently cited as a 'next-gen' showcase and a Game of the Year contender. While it retains the core delivery loop, it introduces major quality-of-life upgrades and nearly non-existent loading times on the PS5. However, some veteran players feel the sequel is too streamlined, offering less environmental friction and horror-driven tension than the original.
Pros
- Near-instant loading times, often taking less than a second from the main menu
- Stunning graphical fidelity and visual performance
- Meaningful quality-of-life improvements to controls and item collection mechanics
- Immersive atmosphere, music, and world-building
- Stronger 'next-gen' feel compared to other contemporary titles
Cons
- Endgame completion (5-starring all facilities) can feel tedious
- Minor visual glitches, such as cargo disappearing during cutscenes
- Initial learning curve for the updated control scheme
Caveats
- The terrain is notably easier to traverse than in the first game, leading to a more streamlined experience
- Vehicles and unlocks may appear too early for those seeking a high-challenge survival experience
- The horror elements and BT encounters are perceived by some as less frequent or intense
Best for
- Fans of the original game looking for a more polished experience
- Players wanting a technical showcase for the PS5 hardware
- Gamers who enjoy immersive, atmosphere-driven narratives
Avoid if
- You preferred the high-friction, difficult traversal mechanics of the first game
- You are looking for a high-intensity horror experience
- You dislike repetitive tasks required for completionist trophies

Like, Death Stranding 2 is maybe the closest I've seen in a ton of ways, but is also very much still obviously a game at most points.
Just like Deat my Stranding 2, Ghost of Yotei, etc I just want more of that amazing world with just enough new things to mix things up and I’m happy lol.
Watch their Death Stranding 2 review, they clearly talk about the game as one of the visually most stunning game ever made.
they seriously upgraded *everything* in a meaningful way for Death Stranding 2, down to the smallest details (liike for example not having to hold the triangle button to collect curtain things and tap it instead or how the vehicles work). It really plays a lot better.
Yeah DS2 is great. I enjoyed it and Expedition 33 as much as each other.
Amazing game, Very worth it
Same I found this one to be too streamlined, I hardly experienced any friction just taking a car from a to b constantly and the horror factor was turned way down, can barely even remember a hairy BT encounter when the first one had multiple.
Well deserved. This was my pick as well. Genuinely just an incredible experience. Amazing performances, beautiful visuals, creative direction and game design, and continuing to make delivering packages a fun gameplay experience.
Death Stranding 2 for me
"Death Stranding 2" is my GOTY, I know it won't win, but I am glad it is there and I hope more people give the chance to such masterpiece.
