Dan Clark Audio E3

Pros

• I would elect three headphones as my overall best and favorites: the DCA E3, the ZMF Caldera Open, and the Audeze LCD-4z. The E3s excel with raw precision and separation
• The jack-of-all trades / all day king? Least amount of EQ needed. Super balanced. A bit less soundstage and impact, still very detailed. More like nearfield monitors. Reference neutral sound with isolation.
• The only thing I've bought so far that made me almost completely stop listening to my Arya Stealth was the Dan Clark E3. ... I absolutely adore them. For gaming or any genre of music they are stellar. Like a smooth non-fatiguing brain ma...
• The E3 is more detailed and resolving with better timbre. More lifelike mids and far more accurate sounding and controlled bass.
• I can tell you that my Arya Stealth is completely blown away by my E3. The E3 is phenomenal.

Cons

• The E3 needs a lot of power and current to sound optimal. Your DAP is useless for the E3. Nowhere near enough power.
• The E3s, depending on the user and position, can have an upper mids hump as wide as 2.5-4.5khz. It fortunately didn't come off too overbearing on my head, but it was the most noticeable coloration compared to everything above/below it.
• I know now I really didn't demo the E3 on a good amp (there was enough power though )which is a shame, they sounded very distant and dull.
• I use six different sets of headphones at work/home that include Verite (O), LCD-2f, DCA E3, DCA Noire, HD650 and Focal Elegia depending on what I listen to, where I am (work used closed headphones) and my mood.
• The E3 are very intense. They sound excellent, but it's difficult to listen to them for long periods.
