Pros

  • I have traveled extensively in Europe with my dog (Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, France, Netherlands) and it's overall a quite relaxed experience.
  • The Czech Republic has some gorgeous residential architecture both in its major cities like Prague and Brno but also a number of smaller towns and villages such as Telč, Slavonice and Litoměřice
  • Every single country I've visited solo (probs 30+ countries) are what I'd say are safe. This includes Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Denmark, Switzerland, Austria, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Singapore, Italy, Spain, Greece,...
  • So you could go to Portugal, Spain or Greece until June, then Central or Eastern Europe in summer - like Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Romania. Both Eastern and Southern Europe are generally cheaper than other parts of Europe, you can...
  • Eastern europe: Czechia is amazing.

Cons

  • Two thirds of the route done and deep in rural Czechia, I failed to find the two first caches in a county, and when I got to the third it was in a forest on top of a rock I couldn't climb from the way I came.
  • Switzerland, Denmark, New Zealand, Ireland, Luxembourg, Finland, Czechia, and Netherlands.

I would definitely go to the Czech Republic, there's a direct bus from Ljubljana to Prague (I took the reverse a couple summers back)

I did Czechia as a solo female and felt very safe. I got a small apartment on Airbnb at $60/night, but you could probably find cheaper. Food was about $7 in a cheap restuarant and $3 for a grocery meal. Buses were $8 to get from one city to another. Prague transport was around $3-4 a day. That averages to $100/day --> $18k for 6 months.

I’ve been to Czechia, Austria, Slovenia and Hungary (well, Budapest) in the region. I backpacked to these 4 countries last year May and it was rather effortless.
