Pros

  • I've been to Cuba, El Salvador, Guatemala, Coastal Rica, Honduras, Panama, Mexico, and Puerto Rico, and I'm planning a trip to Colombia this year.
  • Cuba and Nepal both absolutely spectacular places
  • As an American, my wife and I went to Cuba in 2017 and it made me realize I could be happy with much less. Can’t really put on to words all the ways my thought processes changed but man it was awesome.

Cons

  • OP not a good time to go to Cuba, they are struggling to get oil in to the country so the last thing they need right now is tourists using what precious resources they have left.
  • Normally, yes. But it's just too screwed up there now. They're really, REALLY suffering. It's a horrible situation.
  • Cuba is a failed state nowadays. Food shortages, gasoline shortages, medicine shortages, massive power outages. And high risk of USA airstrikes.
  • Another example is Cuba - at some point it was popular destination for Europeans but I can image that it was always for Caribbean or even Mexico.
