Cloud Atlas

I really love Cloud Atlas and the Bone Clocks by David Mitchell, they are the absolute peak of that kind of storytelling.

Cloud Atlas has a similar vibe and is better imo.

Having read both, I find *Cloud Atlas* to be an epic novel, while *A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius* is more of a personal, self-aware memoir.

I made the mistake of trying to read it right after I read David Mitchell’s Cloud Atlas—a truly heartbreaking work of staggering genius

I’m looking for films that break from traditional storytelling to embrace open-ended structures where narratives overlap and evolve unpredictably, like Symbiopsychotaxiplasm or Cloud Atlas.

I love books that leave me haunted, in awe, or deeply touched and moved—the kind that make you feel like you’ve lived another life by the time you close the last page. Think Piranesi, Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, Cloud Atlas, A Discovery of Witches, The Water Dancer, and The Name of the Wind.

I so agree about cloud atlas—I love that book so much, but the first narrative is one of the weakest imo, and makes it a little hard to get going with the story!

for me, I DNFed Cloud Atlas after trying to read the digital copy. the writing style of The Pacific Journal of Adam Ewing was just written in a way that i was having trouble processing, so i gave up. when i went back to it (as an audio book) however, and pushed through the initial difficulties with understanding that first section, i found that i enjoyed it a lot!
