Pros

  • I absolutely loved Chobe. It's unique and we were so lucky with the amount of wildlife we saw.
  • Chobe is incredible for wildlife density (especially elephants, birds, and occasional wild dogs), but it’s not ideal for self-drive, especially with first-time Africa travelers the roads can be rough and conditions change fast.

Cons

  • To assist with expectations: the part of Chobe accessed from Kasane is very busy. In September, I would estimate that there were at least 20 safari vehicles waiting to get through the gate at 06:00 in the morning.
  • The roads in Chobe were indeed challenging, deep sand in parts.
  • I wouldnt self drive it as roads in there can be rough and signage at crossroads is non existant.
