If you want to give sci fi a shot, Vonnegut’s Cat’s Cradle is a very fun and deep read. It deals with the absurdity of human institutions (including religion), fate vs free will, and science and its ethical dilemmas.
I would add Cat’s Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut or any of his books!
I'm currently on *Lord of Light* by Roger Zelazny, but afterwards I will crack open *Cat's Cradle* to continue the Vonnegut train.
