I also think that for a visitor, unless you're really really interested in the history/architecture of the RSR or you're really committed to your spa day, there's not a ton to do in Bucharest.

I travelled to Bucharest this weekend. 1) everyone was rude to us and 2) despite being told it’s super safe, walked to the shop around 9pm to see a group of youths and one had a nearly 10 inch serrated knife waving it around , we turned around and ran back to our air bnb. This was near Bucharest north station .

The nearby main railway line goes through Gorna Ohreovitsa, take the train to Bucharest then take the train to Brasov in Transylvania, visit Bram castle..
Very safe country, food and hotels arealso very cheap, not too crowded compared to most of western Europe.
If you just want Bucharest, Brasov and in-between (Bran, Sinaia, Mogosoaia, for example), the trains and buses on that route are reliable.
