Pros

  • Bru'n Water will get you very close. Remember to input your salt additions (gypsum CaCl etc) as well.
  • I’m using a paid version of brewers friend and a free version of bru’n water.
  • About 5 years ago I started adjusting and measuring using Bru'n Water and a mid-priced pH meter. I found that Bru'n Water was very close to my measured results (a bit off for dark beers).
  • No pH meter yet, but I am inclined to trust Bru'n Water.
  • For me, I find Bru’n Water is highly accurate after I adjust for full volume mashing (prediction minus 0.1 pH, surprisingly) and for Rahr malts (prediction minus 0.1 pH, proportionally).

Cons

  • I don't know why, because normally Bru'n Water is very accurate, but somehow here it is way off.
  • Lately I have been trying out Bru'n Water and I am scratching my head at the varying results of both final profile and Mash pH.
  • i received my water report recently and am inputting into bru n water. i have a couple questions..

I typically build my water profile on Bru'n Water, as the interface is very convenient, then i adjust with acid malt on Brewer's Friend to hit my pH.

I have Bru'n'water and use it for adjustments, and have done plenty of research, including reading how to brew.
