Pros
- There's a massive change in socials usage going on right now, with millions of people migrating away from legacy platforms to threads, bluesky and other apps.
- I was reminded of this recently because I think Bluesky has implemented something similar.
- Parent context: I've shared a bit on Bluesky, too. I like that the feeds are, you know, what I signed up for. I don't have a lot of followers, though, so I don't get a whole lot of traction on my posts (but I also haven't been super dili...
- I’ve been really enjoying sharing on Bluesky! It feels a little empty still, but it seems like it’s starting to take off
- For now Bluesky works good and I think overall better for interactions as 1/2 of my followers are not photographers.
Cons
- Substack, Bluesky, etc are popular right now and I'm happy to be hopeful for them but I've never seen a social platform not go down that road.
- The key thing to note about BlueSky is it is not decentralized officially, even though it has the potential to be. In it's current form, it is no different than Facebook or Twitter. It's "Decentralization" is but a promise from the CEO a...

I don't have a lot of followers, though, so I don't get a whole lot of traction on my posts (but I also haven't been super diligent for a while.) Reply: I’ve got exactly 0 followers since I just signed up, so I get that. I just use hashtags and am getting at east some traction; it feels like traction that matters, though.

I’ve been enjoying BlueSky a lot - There’s a very active community there.
Bluesky is having a honeymoon moment right now but I expect it will follow the same trajectory as the big social media platforms.
