Blanton’s Gold

Pros

• Gold: a little hotter than regular but not heavily so, smoother
• Don’t get me wrong, Blanton’s and Blanton’s Gold are great whiskeys
• Parent context: Blanton's Gold is better. Reply: IMO, Blanton's Gold is what Blanton's should be bottled at all the time.

Cons

• Parent context: I find the regular expression of Blantons to be painfully mid. ... Reply: It's a 5.5 for me. Gold is about a 6.5. SFTB, on the other hand, is a 7.5-8
• I'm very interested in trying another bottle (from another barrel) of Blanton's Gold, because I expected it to be a little better than it was. As it is, it's noticeably better than standard Blanton's, but it just doesn't "wow" me the way...
• I think Gold would justify it's existence more if it was another 5 or 10 proof points higher. I agree that they sit a little too closely together for the price difference between the two (and they're both overpriced, even at MSRP).
• I've tried both ( not together ), and there was no noticeable difference for me. Other than the bottle, there really is nothing special about either to me.
• In the latter, I concluded that Blanton’s Gold was noticeably better than Blanton’s SiB, but that it wasn’t worth its exorbitant price tag. ... Rating A: 6.3 ... while these bottles are inarguably nice to look at, there are just too many...
