Reddit take

Not enough linked mention summaries yet; the source excerpts below are the evidence.

Pros

  • BRAW mainly, it's just nice and easy to work with, and the menus are simple and straightforward. Plenty of video centric features like false colour and shutter angle. It is just a low priced cinema camera as opposed to a hybrid camera.
  • I recently got Blackmagic because of the insane flexibility of BRAW. It does take a bit more work to look good BUT you have more ability to make an image look amazing with BRAW.
  • Rented an extra blackmagic/lens/tripod for about $400 for the week, which was just included with the quote I gave the client.

Cons

  • The only downside I can think of is the autofocus that's basically non existent.
  • A couple years ago I used to match an a7siii with a blackmagic and the softness of the bm was the main issue between the two cameras
  • I had a RED and Blackmagic and I don’t want this big size footage anymore.
  • You’d need an external Thunderbolt PCIe enclosure and a multi-input capture card such as a Matrox or Blackmagic.
  • Good lord please please please avoid blackmagic. Pain in the ass to work with

Avoid blackmagic if you are a stills photographer. It’s really unwieldy and needs to be rigged out to work handheld. And autofocus is essential for quick work.

The guy shooting on Panasonic and black magic is talking about complete wastes of money?
