Bissell Zing
Reddit take
AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote
The Bissell Zing is a highly recommended ultra-budget canister vacuum, primarily valued for its strong suction power on hard floors. While it is praised for being one of the cheapest functional options available, the consensus is that it feels 'cheaply made' and is largely ineffective for carpets due to the lack of a motorized brushroll.
Pros
- Excellent suction power that users compare to much more expensive models
- Very affordable price point, typically cited between $60 and $90
- Compatible with HEPA bags (specifically Simplicity Jill bags) for improved filtration
- Includes a suction control feature
- Effective and lightweight for hard floor cleaning
Cons
- Poor performance on carpets and rugs due to the lack of a spinning brushroll
- Build quality is described as very cheap, particularly the body, wheels, and hose
- Short wand and attachments can be ergonomically difficult for taller users
- The hose is prone to tangling during use
- Does not include an upholstery tool
Caveats
- The standard paper bags provide poor filtration; the community strongly suggests upgrading to HEPA bags immediately.
- It is internally similar to the Simplicity Jill, but the Jill is noted to have better overall build quality.
- While an aftermarket turbo brush can be added, it is still considered a 'hard floor machine only' by many enthusiasts.
Best for
- Budget-conscious buyers
- Homes with 100% hard flooring
- Users looking for a cheap secondary vacuum for attachments
Avoid if
- You have medium to high-pile carpets
- You are tall and require a long vacuum wand
- You want a durable machine expected to last many years
This summary uses balanced time weighting with about a 6-month half-life. The evidence is older (median age of ~589 days), which may affect current pricing or minor model revisions.

also tossing around a bissell zing $89
Bissell Zing pretty decent too but I believe slightly less suction.
I'd rock any of those and have the prior version of the Zing. Both the mm and zing could benefit from better tools which are important to get the best cleaning. They work, but are basic.
buy a Bissell Zing that will be a nightmare to use on any type of carpet.
It's only real competition is the Bissell Zing which has slightly less power but better filtration and wand.
Maybe get a stick for daily acceptable cleaning and back that up with a Mighty Mite or Bissell Zing for deeper manual cleaning.
wanting a real upgrade from our Bissell Zing (after the extension wand broke for the second time from vacuuming too hard).
Something like a Mighty Mite or the purple Zing are super light and easy to store and pull out for quick clean ups.
Parent context: Just wanted to give my two cents on mighty mite as I am returning the mighty mite I bought from Amazon today. It is excellent for that price and vaccum power is incredible. Dealbreaker for me was the noise. It makes an ungodly amount of high pitch noise. Reply: Zing is quieter but agree, there's not much between the motor and the back of the machine. Suction measurement per dollar though, I don't of any vacuum more powerful.
The best budget options IMO are the bissel zing bagged or eureka mighty might. Bags make for easier maintainence and they compress dust so you won't have to change them often.
