Reddit take

AI summary of the Reddit excerpts below — not a quote

The Bigme B751c is an affordable color e-reader that offers a high refresh rate and good color reproduction for its price point. While users frequently compare it to Boox devices, it is often cited as a budget-friendly alternative that includes a pen and case. However, the device is polarizing due to its dim screen, which necessitates constant frontlight use, and software that can be prone to crashing when multiple apps are open.

Pros

  • Excellent refresh technology with higher FPS for video and less ghosting than some competitors
  • Strong color reproduction for manga and manhwa
  • Good value, often bundled with a pen and cover at a lower price than rivals
  • Versatile Android-based system that runs most apps, including ChatGPT

Cons

  • Screen is notably dark and requires the frontlight to be on even in daylight
  • Software is not fully optimized, leading to occasional app crashes and high standby battery drain
  • Build quality issues, specifically a creaky backside and tiring physical page-turn buttons
  • Non-Wacom pen requires frequent calibration

Caveats

  • The device lacks magnetic case support found in competing models like the Boox Go Color 7
  • Performance is best maintained by closing background apps to prevent system instability
  • Night reading can be difficult even with the frontlight

Best for

  • Budget-conscious readers wanting a color e-ink experience
  • Users who prioritize refresh speed for scrolling or light video
  • Manga and manhwa enthusiasts

Avoid if

  • You prefer reading with ambient light and dislike using a frontlight
  • You require a premium, creak-free build quality
  • You want a highly stable, optimized software environment without manual app management

This summary uses balanced time weighting with about a 6-month half-life. The evidence is older, with a median source age of approximately 392 days, so confidence is lower for this fast-changing hardware category.

Should I get a BOOX Go Color 7 gen 2, gen 1 OR Bigme b751c?

bigme b751c has better color reproduction and good refresh technology. Only minus is that the backside creaks, otherwise it's a great device.

The color e-reader I have isn't really the best (bigme b751c), but it was affordable and it works really well for all the things I need it for.

For instance boox go color has magnetic cases which I like but the bigme b751c doesn't have.

I own this model and the only issues I have with it is that color screens are dimmer in ambient lighting. Also the page turn buttons can get tiring with prolonged use. I'm guessing it's the ergonomics.

I have the bigme b751c which is about the same as the go 7 gen 1. I t worked fine but would close down apps sometimes, not alot but enough.

I've tried out the Bigme B751C and the Boox Go 7 (both b&w and color). The Boox devices have better software generally, and I think the build quality is nicer. Otherwise, they are fairly comparable in terms of features and functionality

I have the same one in colour - wish I’d got the BW, but otherwise it’s a lovely device.

I have the boox go 7 equivalent the bigme b751c, was able to find it cheaper plus it comes with the pen and cover. The bigme crashes apps Avery now and then but it's normally because you have too many apps open in the backgroung.
