Parent context: Yeah. It's one of those cases where my logic says that FT1 is better, but I still enjoy the DT270 more. Reply: Thanks for the responses. Might have to grab them since they are only $115 here, and I could use some decent and isolating-ish closed backs for the warm days where I need the window open.
Overall, at least try them, and if you need comfort the choice here is very clear. The 270 Pro kinda looks like an on-ear, but even for my decently chonky ears, they fit great. Sometimes you fiddle for like 2-3 seconds to make it fit greatly, and then you can wear them for hours on end.
For my ears, the 270 is arguably better in every way possible, but I'm also a vocal lover. The mids, combined with the incredible sub-bass, are really something special and rival my favorite the HD 6XX.
The midrange is also top-tier and has a lovely texture for both female and male voices; hence, I use the HD6XX as my default for comparison. The treble is kind of typical of Beyerdynamic but simply without the spikes and harshness, just very good without overdoing it. I didn't find them sibilant at all.
The 270, meanwhile, has the best bass I've ever heard from a headphone or IEM, by a good mile. I thought my Hype 4 was the endgame in this regard, but DMS is absolutely right to praise the 270 here. It's phenomenal and outright crazy that they sell this for 99€.
On my Meze headphones (99 Classics V2 and 105 Silva) there was also not much difference, maybe ever so slightly, but both of these headphones are extremely easy to drive, as the DT 270 Pro is.
The inner diameter is only 50 mm so big ears won't fit perfectly.
