Pros

  • If it's something with storytelling and a d&d feel with very simple rules, the first thing to come to mind is Betrayal at house on the Hill.
  • Played Betrayal at House on the Hill last weekend and the traitor reveal was fun, but made me realize I want something where your mental state actually affects gameplay throughout.
  • Betrayal at House on the Hill(I love this game. One of the first I bought with my own money, but I can never find enough people to play)
  • They brought out Dominion, Ascension and Betrayal at House on the Hill.
  • Medium to long game that is more like an adventure that is new every time, **Betrayal at House on the Hill**.

Cons

  • games that started in a certain state, but would then expand in all sorts of ways (think Carcassonne and Betrayal at House on the Hill for example).
  • We enjoyed it, but one of scenarios got us locked in a loop where there was no “end”.
  • It’s the best version of Betrayal, which makes it a solid 3/10!

If you like the Betrayal system and prefer a D&D skin over “generic horror”, this is an excellent version.

I'm a big fan and find it to be a good game to break out with a group that normally doesn't game. Being able to learn to play as a team before the haunt starts makes it a lot less intimidating in my experience.
