Berserk (manga)

Finished the first volume of Berserk. I read up to volume 3 in Japanese over 10 years ago. I mostly skimmed it and skipped stuff I didn't understand. But something about this time really hit harder because I am really looking up the words and phrases I don't understand. What a brutal world Guts lives in.

Bought all 41 volumes of Berserk for less than 10,000 yen. Man, my Japanese is going to get so good when I am done sentence mining this.

Berserk is honestly a very emotionally mature, studied story about how trying to suffer alone, trying to deal with trauma and violence with more violence is an inherently self-destructive tendency and will end in said destruction, but also its about a guy dressed in all black cutting monsters in half with a giant slab of metal.

I read Berserk by Kentarou Miura... Enjoyed it much more than I expected. Definitely gruesome and grimdark, but there's a reason it's so beloved.
