Benadryl

Pros
- I eventually got a freezer pack from the freezer to hold in my hands like a stuffed animal, took a Benadryl, and finally fell asleep.
- 2-3mg of melatonin helped for a while, which I cycled with magnesium glycinate and occasionally a 1/4 dose of benadryl. That worked a bit for 5 years but the sleep quality wasn't great, I had zero dreams, and I woke up sore and groggy.
- And antihistamines like Claritin or even Benadryl can help reduce inflammation, just check with your doctor and make sure it doesn’t contain any decongestants.
- Benadryl- the liquid cap kind bc if you bite down on it, it's much faster acting (yes gross and makes your tongue numb but if you're having an allergic rxn faster is kwy).
- I haven’t slept through the night without the assistance of a sleep med like Benadryl (that I take 3-4 a month) in YEARS.
Cons
- There’s a reason why people joke about Benadryl being the babysitter. It is messed up, yes.
- Benadryl is effective, but seems like it would make continuing to hike challenging (it knocks me out).
- Help me sleep while lowering my previous dependency on Benadryl, which is horrible to take on a literal nightly basis for years (like i was doing)
- basically felt like taking a Benadryl which I probably should've known.
- I try to stay away from Benadryl even for myself since the second generation anti-histamines (Zyrtec, for example) have less side effects anyways.

Unisom is recommended by many doctors along with b6 for nausea! Absolutely safe. Benadryl is safe as well.
