English is the official language in Belize and it’s a really nice place to vacation. You’ll enjoy yourself there and won’t have the stress of what’s happening in Mexico. It’s also very close to you.

Belize! A short flight from Miami, they speak English, currency is tied to USD, and they have wonderful tropical islands. I stayed at Caye Caulker with my 5 and 8 year olds. They loved it. We biked around, swam at the split, had so much fun. We were going to do a boat trip but my wife got sick with an ear infection. You can go inland and visit ruins of ancient temples if you want as well. Very friendly and helpful people.
I have a rough plan of flying into chetumal and starting with Bacalar, then going to Belize for Caye caulker and San Ignacio, then Flores, lanquin, Antigua, and lake Atitlan in Guatemala.
Belize is beautiful
Belize was one of our favorite adventure vacations. Again, you'd need a car. We got out of Belize City right away and spent time in San Ignacio for the ATM Cave, Rio on Pools and Caracol. Then to San Pedro on Ambergris Caye for beaches, snorkeling, food scene.
I’m going to second Belize and Guatemala. It has a little bit of everything. Swimming/Snorkling/Scuba on the islands, move inland to do a cave hike and see ruins, hit Tikal, hike up Acatenengo volcano.
