Pros

  • I’m a fan of Barbour but very specific taste with them.
  • Barbour - UK
  • Barbour is still run by the Barbour family, although it has been a limited company since 1912. The waxed jackets are made in the EU
  • Looking at Barbour for jackets, but I need help in what wardrobe piece to invest on and what brand. Something that would last me a lifetime.
  • Everyone says Barbour, and they’re right! Their hunting-style green waxed jackets have never oozed any wax for me. I’ve been wearing one for 10+ years.

Cons

  • British made Barbour is what you want though. Lots of their jackets are made across the EU and aren’t as of good quality.
  • I've considered waxed jackets like Barbour (which I don't think I can pull off)
  • My first thought was some sort of Barbour - but upon looking into it more, I don’t believe it is and can’t find anything!
  • Barbour???
  • Waxed cotton is water repellent and breathable. Barbour is the leader there. They are heavy and pack poorly.

I've worn it to court over a suit, around the back yard, bird-hunting, on a boat. From October to March, I wear my Barbour every day. It was given to me in 1982, still looks great. And the wax never leaches onto clothing.

Spot on. I wear my Barbours over tailoring and suits, as well as in the car. Zero wax transfer.

Isn’t Barbour the obvious answer here? Their classic rain coats are common place on tv in lawyer shows/movies etc. Check out their waxed canvas. I’ve never felt like my waxed trucker jacket got wax on my clothes. I doubt Barbour would do this to yours.
