Pros

  • Oh, I'd say this game is a resounding success on choices mattering. Basically, in addition to the main quest, there's around 25 'major' side quests involving some pretty difficult choices.
  • Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden Review - A stellar and well-written adventure only slightly hampered by budget limitations. ... RECOMMENDED: Extremely, especially for fans of meaningful choice and rich takes on supernatural lore

Cons

  • I really enjoyed the game, and was super surprised by the world opening up the way it did. ... That being said, I’m not sure if it added much. They really shouldn’t have attempted something ambitious in following GoW’s footsteps as a AA...
  • I **loved** the story. Both the main plot and ghost cases. ... But I agree completely on the puzzles. The fact they thought it was a *good idea* to put three separate creeping ivy puzzles along the walk to the final boss was just mind bo...
  • I just remembered I found some busted gun build that could one tap enemies. So it wasn’t as much of a chore. The animations just made it like you were slapping things with wet noodles. I feel like they could have just tweaked it and made...
  • The combat grew on me. It was janky but I really liked the build I had for each character by the end.
  • This game was awesome story wise. I loved the little side quest/stories of all the characters. Some of them were really hard to pick a side on. However the combat was such a chore.. almost made me not want to finish itZ

I really enjoyed the game, and was super surprised by the world opening up the way it did. ... That being said, I’m not sure if it added much. They really shouldn’t have attempted something ambitious in following GoW’s footsteps as a AA game. ... Combat was also pretty solid to me after hearing horror stories about it. ... Yeah, it is lacking the hit reaction and feedback GoW has, but it has the bones of something really great if they polished it up.

I **loved** the story. Both the main plot and ghost cases. ... But I agree completely on the puzzles. The fact they thought it was a *good idea* to put three separate creeping ivy puzzles along the walk to the final boss was just mind boggling. I felt like they pretty consistently threw off the pacing. They weren't compelling. They didn't really take any kind of thought or skill. They mostly just felt like busywork.

I have no idea why, but I got motion sickness playing this game. Had to quit because of it.

-Combat is pretty basic, especially early on, and takes about a third of the game to get going -Enemy variety is pretty weak and doesn't improve much over time -Some of the Metroidvania-style puzzle mechanics are overused and irritating

I generally enjoyed the game, but I feel the game’s morality was a bit too simplistic in the end. You basically have two endings that feel morally prescriptive instead of embracing the gray you encounter during the game. ... So loved the general game and mysteries — hated the ending.
