Pros

  • Or maybe their beauty, paired with not being as busy as Skye, makes them as good in your eyes?
  • Aviemore would be another option that you could do without hiring a car. There's a direct train, and plenty to do around the town as well as buses into Rothiemurchus, Loch Morlich and Cairngorm.
  • In my opinion, the scenery around Aviemore is superb and there's loads to do - check out[Walkhighlands](https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/cairngorms/aviemore.shtml) for some inspiration.
  • Thinking of four nights in Fort Williams and three in Aviemore as home bases. Any suggestions?

Cons

  • Another option which may be better if the weather isn't good is Aviemore. If the weather is good, there's loads of great hiking (check walkhighlands.com for recommendations). If it's not so good, there's the steam train, mountain railway...
