Audeze LCD-5

Pros
- LCD-5 do not clip in the bass, given that you are using proper amp. Even at +10 dB at 40 Hz and 25 Hz, LCD-5 do not clip. Do not badmouth LCD-5, these compete with TOTL Stax Planars in resolution and lack of distortion.
- If you're chasing resolution, if that's your most critical requirement, it may be that moving from an LCD-X to an LCD-MX4 or LCD-5 is how you'll achieve your goal.
- if you wanted something substantially better, especially as a mix engineer, you were reaching for sets like the LCD-X, LCD-2, or if you could justify it, the LCD-MX4 or LCD-5.
- Audeze know what they’re doing with the pads and tuning, changing has also never been an issue with me in the past. These aren’t supposed to be pad swapped
Cons
- LCD-5 is a bit lean in the midrange for my tastes, but then too dark in the lower treble, which emphasizes the both midrange leanness and the mid treble even more. It's honestly a bit wonky for me.
- Yeah LCD-5 is my personal headphone disappointment of all time after reading all the hype online about them.
- I’m REALLY loving these, jumping between the LCD-5 and LCD-5s these seem to fix all the issues I was equing on the OG, but sound even better… bass is more impactful and feels tighter and deeper than the OG even when really pushing the lo...
- I ended up sending mine back and keeping my 4 because of the bass limits. I assumed it was simply the surface size of the diaphragm.

I’m REALLY loving these, jumping between the LCD-5 and LCD-5s these seem to fix all the issues I was equing on the OG, but sound even better… bass is more impactful and feels tighter and deeper than the OG even when really pushing the lowend with EQ. Imaging is improved, and the upper midrange I always had a problem with on the OG now feels natural and doesn’t jump out in an unpleasant way. I actually don’t feel I will need to EQ these
