Pros
- People have made extensions like ASBplayer to make it possible to insert your own subtitle tracks to a video stream.
- Just use asbplayer and it's card export feature. It takes screenshot, clips, exports subtitles if they're available.
- asbplayer-language-learni/hkledmpjpaehamkiehglnbelcpdflcab Drag and drop subtitles onto anime (Hi!Anime) and sync up timing and then mouse over unknown words with Yomitan or 10ten Reader.
- I step through a show that has subtitles and make the subtitles hidden (asbplayer). When I don't know a word or I couldn't make out what was said, I will check the subtitles and repeat the line over and over until I can comfortably hear...
- It 100% works on YouTube, so you can test out how to use it on there.
Cons
- I tried to use the trial, but I still don’t get why it is better than Asbplayer. Once you have Yomitan connected to Anki, you can create cards easily and read the vocabulary in the same way as in Migaku.
- I should mention the cards are coming from ASBplayer. Does that change anything?
- What I don't like about asb is that even if your video comes with JP sub you still need to download JP sub and sync it with your media, so you need to download two files and sync them which is a pain imo
- It's my own deck. I mine cards from anime with asbplayer

I use asbplayer alongside raw anime episodes and Japanese subtitles from jimaku.
Parent context: Can Asbplayer create sound files too? Reply: Yeah, if you add it to your Anki Deck and press Ctrl + U, it’ll pull the whole sub line as an example sentence, an image of the scene and the audio from the video as well.
