Asakusa

Pros

• Stayed around Asakusa/Kuramae. Enjoyed wandering around random streets and neighbourhoods.
• Staying in Asakusa was the right move for us, staying in Shabuya or Shinjinku would have been overwhelming.
• Second Tokyo base will be Asakusa. Main reasons: * quieter than Shinjuku * Senso-ji nearby * close to Ryogoku * close to Ueno * good access to east Tokyo * convenient for Narita on the final day
• I visited Asakusa very late in the day, I believe around 8 or 9pm after work, and I must say I most likely got a far better experience than I ever would have during the day. ... I highly recommend coming here late in the evening

Cons

• I am a bit of a tokyo hater (Asakusa esp)
• If you’re referring to the Sensoji temple in Asakusa, then yeah it’s crowded middle of the day
• I wasn't impressed by Asakusa after spending several intense days in Kyoto, and I honestly just felt "templed out" at that point of the trip.
• Asakusa and Sensō-ji Temple were not particularly awe-inspiring for me personally, but still something you shouldn’t skip while in Tokyo.
• Asakusa is a really small neighborhood and half of it is residential. You're mostly there for Sensoji and it doesn't take long, especially if you go early to avoid crowds.
