Cons

  • Polybrute 12
  • I tried it out at Sweetwater and was blown away. My only turnoff though is I do a lot of live performing and it is just so big and on top of that a lot my band does is outdoors.

Parent context: Right. Also why go for the 12 when it doesn’t even have multi timbre or additional features over the 6 other than the voices? Reply: Have you ever used an Osmose or PB12? That keybed (and the gesture controls that make the keybed extra special) is a completely different experience, it's sublime. Everyone should try one.

All I can say is this thing is an analog monster: the build quality is excellent, the morphee pad, ribbon and MPE keybed allow for expressiveness that is truly on another level. In MPE mode you can play a slow attack evolving pad staccato and get plucking tones then lay into individual keys to slowly reopen the attack voice by voice. It can completely transform a sound! Simply mind blowing.

the Mod Matrix which is definitely the best implementation of modulation I’ve seen on a synth as you can visualize and keep track of all your routings at a glance.

Anyway to me they both sound warm round lush and organic which I guess would be the opposite of plasticy. Just for the record, I don’t have a dog in this fight but I find the Polybrute 12 very intriguing.

The Polybrute 12 sounds as fat, thick, warm and organic as does the Prophet 5.
